My name is Monica Hong, and I am delighted to be the ESE Specialist at TCS. I grew up in New Jersey and have devoted over a decade as an educator both in and out of the classroom, working with students ranging from kindergarten to university level in four different countries. I received a bachelor's degree in Literature and Media Studies from New York University and a master's in Exceptional Student Education from the University of West Florida. I am certified to teach K-6 Elementary Education and Exceptional Student Education.
I am committed to providing an inclusive classroom atmosphere in which all students, regardless of race, gender, capability, or socioeconomic background, have an opportunity to succeed in my classroom.
I enjoy learning new languages, traveling, cooking, hiking, and playing music with my husband for our friends and family.
I was born and raised in Pensacola, Florida and went to Fontbonne University in St. Louis majoring in Speech Pathology, receiving both a BA and MS degree. I was married shortly after. I gave birth to ten children, five boys and five girls including two sets of twins and spent 27 years homeschooling and setting up co-ops for homeschooling families. I moved to Tallahassee in 2017 and began working in the Leon County school system. I love the beach and have earned the name Beach Queen from my 12 grandchildren. I love kayaking and still love to play basketball, volleyball and take dance lessons. I am grateful to be a part of Tallahassee Classical School.
